We are halfway through Blogtober!
I can’t even tell you guys how excited I am that I have made it halfway through Blogtober posting EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. If I am being 100% honest with you guys, I almost quit. Today. Today I almost gave up on Blogtober and decided I wasn’t going to do it. Why? Well, as I said in Blogtober Day 1, I am a very busy bee. I always have SOMETHING going on. I’m a part of multiple YouTube channels, I write for multiple websites, and I work full time as a freelance social media manager. Needless to say, I have a pretty full schedule. I made the decision to do Blogtober semi last minute and I really didn’t give myself much time to prepare. Before I knew it, I was getting slightly overwhelmed.
If im being completely honest, I was starting to get depressed. I was feeling as if my blog was not as good as I thought it was. I had no reason for this because you guys have been ULTRA supportive and it’s been wonderful, but my mind sometimes tries to destroy my confidence no matter how much I remind myself that how I think sometimes isn’t logical. I also was having some other personal issues outside of blogging that was distracting me from writing. I thought it would be easy to do, but it wasn’t.
I am used to getting things done ahead of time and I couldn’t do that as much as I wanted to with Blogtober. Posting once or twice a week, I could get a couple of weeks ahead and not have to worry about writing as much, but with Blogtober it was hard to even keep up, let alone get ahead. It was a lot more of a challenge than I expected. After week one, I saw multiple bloggers leave the challenge and my accountability partners were also dropping out which made it slightly more difficult to stick to it.
Am I going to quit Blogtober?
I thought about it. In fact, earlier this very night I told both my mother and my mom that I was. I said that I had too much on my mind to focus on blogging. That’s when my boyfriend kind of told me about myself. Blogging is my passion. Growing this blog and getting better at this craft is the thing that I want the most so if I’m going to cut back on something, this shouldn’t be it. The Blogtober Challenge has put me in the position to question rather or not I am as passionate about blogging as I say I am. This is not to say that if you couldn’t do Blogtober that you aren’t passionate or dedicated to your blog, but for me, I needed to be reminded of my priorities. This blog and all of the people that supporters, even if it was just one person, deserve for me to keep my word.
I have been stressing and getting frustrated about things that don’t matter and allowing that to affect how I feel about writing. This Blogtober was a lot more of a learning experience for me than I expected it to be. It helped me realize that I have a habit of neglecting the things that I care about over things that shouldn’t matter as much.
So is Blogtober worth it?
YES. IT. IS. Blogtober is one of the best challenges I think a blogger can do. It’s a great way to challenge your creativity to push forward. It’s an awesome way to find other bloggers and help other bloggers to find you. It teaches a lot of bloggers about batch writing which I HIGHLY recommend if you want to really be a blogger. It helps keep you ahead of the game and leaves a support system when you go through dry spells of motivation for content creation.
Doing Blogtober as a part of my launch back into the blogging world was THE best idea ever and I’m that my lovely supporters pushed the idea so heavily on Twitter because I almost didn’t go for it.
Its been a hard couple of days for me and my blog. I hadn’t been promoting like I should, but I’ve found a newfound love for blogging and remembered why I started blogging in the first place thanks to Blogtober and I definitely owe it to this challenge. So I shall continue for the rest of this month to post every single day. I refuse to give up on you guys. I love this blog and I love all of you for supporting it.
I intend to continue to better myself and this blog and bring you guys along on the journey!
