How To Plan Your Goals for the Year Ahead

2022 is upon us bro!

Like, we're really about to be in a new year.. is that not crazy? 2020 feels like just yesterday with Covid and businesses closing down and now here we are... about to be 2 years after all this madness.

Maybe I am the only one who thinks it's wild, but 2021 FLEW by in my opinion.

Now that we are entering into 2022, I know we are all thinking about new year's goals (which I just love) and planning how we are going to find our next level of success.

So, how do you plan your year ahead for success? Let's talk about it.

How To Plan Your Year Ahead

Review the past year

Reflection is extremely important when setting new goals. What went wrong? What went right? What did you accomplish? Was there a goal you had at the beginning of the year that changed? What lessons did you learn that you can take into the new year? Reflection is the first step to creating what should happen next.

Divide into sections

This will help you organize your goals. I divide mine into personal, professional, health, etc.

Create a list of habits you want to get rid of

For me, I would like to stop worrying so much. I am the queen of worry and anxiety and this year I learned that all of that stressing hinders more than it helps, ya know? Figure out what habits you have that are holding you back. Are you lazy? Do you procrastinate? Have a real conversation with yourself.

Decide on long-term goals

Where do you want to be in the next 10 years? I have an image of who I see myself as at 30 years old and also at 40 years old. These are key elements you'll want to base your goals on.

Break these goals down

Use what you want for your long-term and figure out what steps you have to take to accomplish those goals. Once you've done this, you can look at the next steps you can realistically take within the next year. I break down my goals into the smallest steps possible and use that to decide what my next moves should be. It helps with direction and also realistically accomplishing your goals

Don't wait until 2022 to start working on them

The BIGGEST flaw and mistake I see in people who set goals and intentions are saying things like "I'll start January 1st" or "I'll start on Monday"... you know why? Because no you won't. The best way to be sure you take action is to take action NOW. Too often we mistake a new year with a "new us". You are still lazy. You are still a procrastinator. The best way to stop is to go ahead and STOP. Don't wait for the perfect moment because it doesn't exist.

I love goal setting for new years, weeks, and months. It gives you a sense of freshness and I absolutely love that.
