It is 2020 and I am sure we all have a list of resolutions and goals that we want to accomplish this year, right? Well, success all comes down to the habits you have. Successful people form successful habits.

How to ACTUALLY stop your bad habits
Make sure you know what habits you want to stop and why
This is the first one and a lot of people don't get past it. Why? Because it means you have to take a good look at yourself and recognize what bad habits are standing in your way. This takes some actual responsibility for your own lack of progress. This is the first real step (in my opinion) towards success. So, what is standing in your way? Classify it.
Identify triggers
One of my bad habits is too much binge watching detective shows. In order to help me control this habit, I had to recognize why I am so hooked on it n the first place. For me, it's an escape. When I am watching my shows, nothing is stressing me out. I am not focused on my own life. So when depression hits, when I am stressed out, or anything like that... I can waste hours, days, and sometimes even weeks watching shows I've already seen a hundred times. It isn't a bad thing to escape, but the fact that I've made it a habit, makes it a problem.
Therapy
I strongly believe everyone should go to therapy. You'd be surprised how many suppressed thoughts and emotions fuel our bad habits. Therapy can help us find healthy ways to form better habits and clear our minds in a healthy way to focus on our dreams and goals. Not everyone believes in therapy, but it is really just a safe place to learn more about yourself.
Create a visual reminder to motivate you
I absolutely love goal and vision boards. They remind you of the things you desire. You can write it in lipstick on your bathroom mirror or create a work of art to place on your wall. Regardless, something that YOU will notice regularly to remind you of what you're trying to do and why you're trying to do it.
Take it one step at a time
You are not going to enter into 2020 with perfect ability to just stop all of your habits cold turkey. It will take practice. You'll fail sometimes. It'll take time. Take it one step at a time. Don't give up when things are not completely turned around by February. You want something you've never had? You have to do something you've never done.
2020 can be your year. 2020 WILL be our year. Are you ready to get rid of those toxic habits?
